STOCKTON, Calif. - A woman was stabbed following a verbal confrontation with her neighbor that turned physical Thursday night, say police.
The 45-year-old woman was drinking with her neighbor when they got into an argument, according to Stockton police reports.
At some point during the argument, the man punched the woman in the face, so the woman responded by hitting the man with a stick, said police.
The man then went into his home on the 1300 block of East Oak St. and returned with a knife, which he used to stab the woman three times, police said.
Police and medical personnel arrived at the scene around 9:10 p.m. and transported the man and woman to a nearby hospital.
The man, later identified as 47-year-old Johnnie Woodfork, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
