STOCKTON, CA - California Highway Patrol officers made a quick stop of a man believed involved in a drive-by shooting in Stockton just minutes earlier late Sunday night.

The gunfire was reported on Bianchi Road at approximately 10:10 p.m., according to CHP spokesperson Officer James Smith. Officers responding to the area found a blue van matching the description of the suspect vehicle in the area of Bianchi and Townehome Drive.

Smith said officers reported seeing the van failing to stop at a stop sign and something tossed from the driver's side window onto the ground.

Officers pulled over the van and detained the driver, identified as Ho Long Tran, 38. They also located the item thrown from the van, a silver 5-shot .22 revolver handgun.

Stockton police officers were contacted and took over the investigation, arresting Tran on numerous felony weapon charges, Smith said.
