Wilmington, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcus Thornton poured in a game-high 19
points, as the William & Mary Tribe held off the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks,
54-50, in a Colonial Athletic Association bout at Trask Coliseum.
Thornton shot 7-of-12 from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range for
William & Mary (14-8, 6-3 CAA), which has won four of five. Tim Rusthoven
added 10 points for the visitors.
For UNC Wilmington (6-18, 0-9), Tanner Milson scored 11 points off the bench,
while Cedrick Williams tallied a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.
William and Mary shot only 30.8 percent from the field in the first half, but
it drained three 3-pointers and went into halftime with a 22-17 lead. UNCW
shot just 33.3 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes, including 0-
of-4 from 3-point range.
The Tribe extended their lead to as many as 14 in the second half by improving
their field goal percentage to .600. The Seahawks cut their deficit to just
three late but could not complete the comeback.
