NORTH HIGHLANDS - An arrest has been made following Thursday night's attempted robbery and subsequent fatal shooting at a North Highlands auto parts store.
Sacramento County Sheriff's Sgt. Lisa Bowman said the suspect, 26-year-old Michael Eugene Addson, was located at a hospital following the incident.
According to Bowman, the attempted robbery occurred around 7:15 p.m. at the O'Reilly Auto Parts on the 4000 block of Elkhorn Blvd. The suspected robber entered the store and directed employees into a back room. One of the employees, a 22-year-old man, tried to fight off the man and was able to stab him with a knife. In response, the suspected robber shot the employee, leading to his eventual death at a local hospital.

Homicide detectives later received information that a man with a stab wound had been brought to a different Sacramento County hospital. Detectives deduced from evidence gathered at the scene that Addson was the suspect in the robbery, Bowman detailed.
Addson was arrested and booked into Sacramento County Jail for murder, Bowman said.
