SACRAMENTO - A person was taken to hospital Monday morning after crashing their car into a building in West Sacramento.

Police on scene said the driver crashed through the fence of the property before hitting the stairwell of the multi-story building at 1049 Jefferson Blvd.

The driver was taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries. No information was provided on why they crashed.

A vacuum cleaner shop on the first floor and an apartment directly overhead were deemed uninhabitable, but all other units in the property were considered safe, said Charlene Hamilton of the City of West Sacramento Building Division.
