SACRAMENTO - A child ejected from a car during roll over crash on eastbound Highway 50 and Sunrise Boulevard suffered only minor injuries Thursday evening.
The child was buckled into a car seat in the back of the car when it was thrown out of the closed back window, California Highway Patrol Officer Jasper Begay said. The car seat did not fall to the ground, but instead it got caught, by the straps, on a perimeter fence. People driving pass the crash scene pulled over and took car seat off of the fence. Begay said the fire department treated the child at the scene of the crash for minor injuries.
The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. when a 1994 Toyota Tercel tried to change lanes and side swiped a 2005 Chevy Impala. The Impala then went over the embankment and overturned.
Two other passengers in the Impala and two in the Tercel suffered only minor injuries, Begay said.
