WOODLAND, Calif. - A toddler was killed in a tragic accident in a Woodland parking lot Thursday.
The 35-month old boy was struck by a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the Bel Air Shopping Center parking lot at 1885 Pioneer Ave., said Woodland Police Spokesman Steve Guthrie.
According to Guthrie, police officers, firefighters and ambulance personnel were called to the parking lot around 9 a.m. and found the boy on the ground sustaining life-threatening injuries. He was taken to U.C. Davis Medical Center where he later died of his injuries.
The driver of the Cherokee, 67-year-old Kathleen Parker, of Woodland, was not arrested as the incident was determined to be an unintentional collision, said Guthrie.
The case will continue to be investigated.
Guthrie asked anyone who may have additional information regarding the incident to contact the Woodland Police Department Traffic Division at 530-661-7880
