SACRAMENTO - A tuckered-out burglar's decision to take a brief rest inside the victim's home, led to his capture Sunday night, say police.
According to Sacramento police reports, a resident returned to his home on the 8000 block of 32nd Ave. at 8:18 p.m. to find a total stranger snoozing on the couch with the resident's gun by his side and a sack of stolen property near the couch.
The man called the police who arrived and took the awakened intruder into custody. An ensuing investigation returned more of the resident's property from the suspected burglar's pockets, said police.
The alleged burglar, later identified as 32-year-old parolee at-large John Hernandez, was arrested and booked into county jail.
The bag of stolen goods recovered at the scene was found to be from a separate recent burglary, said police.
