'Beyond: Two Souls' is a PlayStation 3 game starring Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe.
When developer Quanitic Dream's next title, Beyond: Two Souls, releases on October 8 exclusively for PlayStation 3, it looks like gamers can safely expect the deep kind of storytelling provided in the 2010 title Heavy Rain. In fact, it might be even better.
"This by far is probably the most accomplished script David Cage has written so far," stated SCEA Software Engineer Daimion Pinnok. "I think the power of the script itself kind of shows why we were able to get two really established actors who wanted to be a part of the project."
Those two actors, Ellen Page ('Juno') and Willem Dafoe ('Spider-Man') have been mind-blowingly re-created within the video game in a way that looks as if it takes all of the graphics processing power the console can muster.
When the game made its debut at E3 a year ago, it appeared that it was to be a supernatural thriller. At the Rubicon Film Festival earlier this year, it instead appeared as if it might be more like a long-lost episode of the TV show 'Alias'. Then at E3 last week it took the form of a third-person militaristic action game. While the exact categorization of Beyond: Two Souls might be up in the air, one thing looks to be sure: it'll cover more than just one over the course of the game.
"There's so many different elements depending upon the story and that will then play out in terms of the scene and the type of gameplay experience you'll get with the game," Pinnok comments.
Developed by Quantic Dream exclusively for PlayStation 3, Beyond: Two Souls is scheduled for release on October 8. It is considered by News10's Game Guys to be one of the most anticipated games of 2013.
The ESRB has rated this title "M for Mature".
