RIO LINDA, CA - A man was shot and killed in a Rio Linda neighborhood Friday night.
Sacramento County sheriff's deputies responded to a house on the 6800 block of Radalyc Way, after getting reports of a shooting around 10:15 p.m., Sgt. Jason Ramos said.
When crews arrived at the scene, they found a man in his 20s with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Ramos said two men were at the house at the time of the shooting; both were detained for questioning.
According to witnesses, two or three cars were seen speeding away from the home after the shooting. It was unclear whether or not the occupants of the car were involved in the incident. Ramos said deputies pulled over a car that matched the description of a car leaving the scene of the shooting, but no arrests were made.
On Saturday afternoon, the Sacramento Coroner's Office identified the victim as Deandre Smith, 28, of Sacramento.
The motive behind the shooting is unclear. No suspects have been identified in the crime.
