ELK GROVE, Calif. - More than 70 teen drivers tackled a distracted driving course in Elk Grove last week and News10's Melissa Crowley gave it a go as well.
The Elk Grove Police Department hosted the week-long event to showcase in a safe environment, just how dangerous behind-the-wheel distractions can be. They had drivers navigate the course once with and once without distractions.
The distractions included holding a phone, texting, eating, changing the radio and reaching for a bag.
The cars had a camera installed inside, and a video will be shown in August at local schools to show what happened behind the wheel.
