YUBA COUNTY, CA - A 4-year-old boy was killed Wednesday when the Honda Civic he was a passenger in was broadsided by a Nissan Sentra whose driver didn't stop at a stop sign, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The boy, whose name wasn't released, was in the front seat of the Honda, the CHP said. The child was from Plumas Lake.
The CHP says the driver of the Honda, Ronald Berry, 47, of Olivehurst, had the right of way while traveling on southbound Rancho Road through the intersection with Ostrom Road. He suffered cuts to his head in the collision.
The person behind the wheel of the Nissan, Jessie Campos, and her passenger were not hurt. The CHP says the Nissan was going about 45 mph hour when it struck the Honda.
Per the preliminary CHP investigation, neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to be factors in the collision.
The CHP continues to investigate the crash and anyone who witnessed it at 4:30 p.m. was urged to contact the CHP Yuba/Sutter area office.
