SACRAMENTO, CA - A well-known clock repairman and collector who called himself "Dr. Time" died Thursday from injuries suffered in a head-on crash in Montana last week.

Phillip Paguio, 60, was being treated at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls following Friday's crash on US Highway 20 near West Yellowstone, MT.

"It was a pretty bad accident," said hospital spokeswoman Cindy Putnam.

Paguio made regular appearances on Sacramento TV stations in the spring and fall, adjusting for Daylight Saving Time on some of the thousands of clocks in his collection.

As News10 reported earlier this week, Paguio's housemate sold his entire collection to an antiques dealer for $3,500 after learning of the crash.

Julie Wilson, 45, claimed she had the authority to liquidate Paguio's collection, but after the story broke Wilson returned the money to the dealer who agreed to store the clocks for Paguio.

It's unclear what will become of Paguio's belongings as a result of his death.

Montana Highway Patrol trooper Marcus Cook told the West Yellowstone News that Paguio was attempting to pass another vehicle when he struck the big rig.

Firefighters had to remove both doors and the roof of Paguio's car to free him from the wreckage.

There was hard-packed snow on the highway at the time of the crash, but Cook said the snow did not play a role in the crash.
