Jimmy Kimmel has really been pulling out all the stops since his show moved to 11:35 p.m. Last week the late-night host delivered one of his best shows yet when he turned over the hour to Matt Damon.
Damon has been a long-running joke on the show for a decade, with Kimmel repeatedly apologizing for bumping him from the guest lineup. On Thursday Damon got his revenge by "kidnapping" the comedian and welcoming his own group of A-list celebrities.
As a bound and gagged Kimmel looked on, Damon delivered the monologue, introduced new bandleader Sheryl Crow and interviewed Nicole Kidman. Reese Witherspoon, Gary Oldman,Amy Adams and Robin Williams stopped by, as did Demi Moore, Sarah Silverman and (surprise!)Ben Affleck.
The ep is such a talker that ABC will rebroadcast it tomorrow at 10 p.m. ET. If you can't wait that long, watch the hour over at ABC.com or check out the highlights on YouTube.
Some may think the late-night landscape is too crowded with Jimmy, Jay, Dave andConan in direct competition, but I think it makes them all better. Congrats to Kimmel on the standout show - and hey, Damon was so good that perhaps he should get one of his own.
