SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - A Northern California handyman lured to a home was punched in the face and told to fix a dishwasher or die.
Sheriff's investigators say a couple in the Santa Clara home held the 50-year-old handyman hostage for eight hours on Monday and forced him to fix the dishwasher and do a variety of household repairs.
He was then forced to drive with the couple to a San Jose gas station convenience store, where he escaped and notified police.
Thirty-six-year-old Jason DeJesus and 33-year-old Chanelle Troedson were arrested at the gas station.
The San Francisco Chronicle says the jailed couple has been booked for investigation of kidnapping, false imprisonment, carjacking, criminal threats, conspiracy and assault.
