GALT, CA - A vehicle chase ended in a crash after two burglary suspects fled from Galt police Tuesday afternoon.

The two suspects attempted to break into a Galt home Tuesday morning, but were thwarted by a woman living there, Galt police said. The woman was able to give police a detailed description of the suspects and the suspect vehicle as they fled her home.

Around 3 p.m., police spotted the suspect vehicle near the Galt Flea Market. The suspects jumped into the car and drove from the scene, leading police on a chase on Highway 99.

Witnesses said the suspects weaved in and out of traffic, driving at speeds up to 100 mph. The suspects lost police, but then lost control of their vehicle as they passed Peltier Road exit.

The suspects drove off the freeway, onto Frontage Road and crashed into a power pole, splitting it in half.

Police said the 18-year-old man and 20-year-old man were taken to the hospital in serious condition.
