STOCKTON, CA - A man wanted in the state of Washington for charges of child rape and child molestation was arrested in Stockton on Thursday night.

The suspect, 34-year-old Arturo Villalobos-Ramirez was wanted by the Okanogram County Sheriff's Office out in Washington for first Degree Rape of a Child and 1st Degree Child molestation. According to Deputy Charlie Brown of the United States Marshals, Villalobos-Ramirez allegedly molested his stepdaughter multiple times and raped her at least once between September 2011 and October 2012.

The victim's mother confronted Villalobos-Ramirez and then contacted police after her daughter explained what had happened. According to Brown, the suspect then fled Washington before police could obtain an arrest warrant.

Investigators from the United States Marshals service later found out that Villalobos-Ramirez was in the Stockton area, ready to take-off to Mexico. At around 8 p.m., Members of the U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force (PSWRFTF) were informed that Villalobos-Ramirez was in the 600 block of South Pershing Road in Stockton.

The PSWRFTF along with the Stockton Police Department Community Response team (CRT) immediately responded to the area and noticed a vehicle associated with Villalobos-Ramirez, Brown said. Villalobos-Ramirez was seen attempting to flee the residence's backyard once PSWRFTF arrived.  Before he could fully flee, Villalobos-Ramirez was surrounded and taken into custody.

Villalobos-Ramirez was transported and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail, awaiting extradition back to Washington.
