Suspect wanted in Lathrop shooting

LATHROP, CA - Police search for a suspect involved in a shooting that put one man in critical condition on early Saturday morning. 

According to San Joaquin County sheriff's Deputy Les Garcia, Lathrop police responded to reports of a shooting around 1:35 a.m. near the Two Guys gas station on the 100 block of E. Harlan Road.  

The victim, an 18-year-old man, was found sitting in his car by the air station with multiple gunshot wounds before being rushed to a local hospital, Garcia said.

Witnesses describe the suspect as a 5'9'' Hispanic or black male with a thin build wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. Garcia said the suspect was last seen running southeast behind the store on Harlan Road.

According to Garcia, the motive is still under investigation, but have ruled out the shooting as gang related. 

The victim is in critical condition and undergoing surgery.
