MODESTO, CA- After finding stolen construction equipment at a Modesto home, the owner was re-booked into jail when he was located in Stanislaus County Jail, Modesto police said.

Carlos Nava, 34, was booked into jail for grand theft and possessing stolen property, Lt. Rick Armendariz said.

A tip led police to a home on the 2700 block of Merle Avenue Thursday where they found over $23,000 in heavy construction equipment, including  a Skyjack Scissorlift, 21-foot trailer, a Bobcat Bucket, a Backhoe Bucket and a 24" and a 34" Auger.

Armendariz said the Scissorlift was stolen from a construction site at the Days Inn at 1312 McHenry Avenue, on Sept. 18; the other equipment was found to be stolen from a construction site at Mary Grogan Community Park on Sept. 4.

When police searched for Nava, they found he was already in jail for an unrelated crime, then re-booked him on charges related to the construction equipment theft.
