STOCKTON, CA - A 60-year-old man was fatally shot, apparently for his gold chain, at Victory Park Monday afternoon, say Stockton police.

Armando Pina was transported to a local hospital, said Officer Joe Silva, but did not survive.

Pina was able to tell officers he was robbed of a gold chain he wore before being shot, Silva said.

The victim described the robbers as two black or Hispanic youths in their late teens, Silva said. They wore hooded sweatshirts.

A witness reported seeing the assailants running south on Columbia Avenue then east on Poplar Street toward N. Pershing Avenue, Silva said.

A call came into police dispatchers at 3:08 p.m. that there was a shooting at the park, which is located on the 1000 block of N. Pershing.

Pina's death is Stockton's 49th homicide of the year.
