PHOTOS: 45-acre wildfire burns in El Dorado County

PLACERVILLE, CA - A wildfire burns 45 acres in El Dorado County Saturday evening, Cal Fire said.

The vegetation fire is off of Highway 193 and Rock Creek Road, just north of Placerville.

Cal Fire said outside agencies were asked to help battled the blaze, which being called the Rock Fire.

When the blaze first began, it was growing rapidly through the area, spreading from 25 acres to 45 acres. Fortunately, crews were able to stop the progression of the fire at 45 acres. The Rock Fire is 60 percent contained as of Sunday morning.

California Highway Patrol said the fire was caused by a vehicle that crashed or had its tire blowout. CHP has closed Highway 193 between Bright Hope Mine Road in Kelsey and at the 193/49 Jct.
