McKinley Park playground fire.
SACRAMENTO - Sacramento City Councilmember Steve Cohn and the city Parks and Recreation Department will host a community meeting on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, to discuss rebuilding plans for McKinley Park's playground which burned down in late July.
The city of Sacramento has set-up a website to raise support and money to rebuild the playground destroyed by arson.
According to the website, the city is looking into the availability of park funds and has also started the process of filing an insurance claim, which is likely to cover the damaged section. The playground is almost 20 years old and is due for replacement, but that may cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The community meeting will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Clunie Community Center in the Grand Hall at 601 Alhambra Boulevard.
