CARMICHAEL, CA - Deputies searched for a suspect who tried to break into a Carmichael residence where a 12-year-old boy was home alone Friday afternoon.

The boy was at his home on the 4700 block of Pedersen, when, around 2:45 p.m., he heard someone try to break into the home, Sacramento County sheriff's Deputy Jason Ramos said.

The boy called his mother, who then called 911.

Ramos said when deputies arrived at the scene, the suspect fled the scene. The suspect took an Xbox, a laptop and other items.

Deputies set up a perimeter near Moraga Drive and Meyer Way to search for the suspect. It was broken down after approximately 45 minutes. Ramos said nothing suggested the suspect is armed.

The 12-year-old was not harmed in the incident.
