STOCKTON, CA - A Stockton family has gone through the experience of having two teenage boys shot just a couple months apart.
The most recent shooting came at about 11 Tuesday morning when 16-year-old Deandrew Jordan was shot multiple times. He was hit by gunfire from a car being driven south on Cherbourg Way.
Family members arrived quickly and said this was not the first experience of this kind. A 14-year-old brother was also shot in the area recently. He survived the head wound.
Their stepmother admitted gang involvement for one of the boys, and urged other parents to do what they can to keep their children from dangerous settings.
"They have each other's backs. If one has enemies, the other has enemies. Focus on the things your kids are doing. Get them into sports so they're not on the streets or at the mall. Parents need to get more involved," said Shonika Gress.
Stockotn police spokesman Officer Joe Silva said that despite being shot multiple times, Jordan was conscious and expected to survive.
