MODESTO, CA - One person was killed and another wounded in a shooting at a Modesto bar on Sunday morning.

According to Sgt. Rick Armendariz of the Modesto Police Department, officers were called to O'Malley's Bar at 2200 Standiford Ave. around 1:38 a.m. for a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, the officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds, and a large crime scene in the parking lot of the bar. Both men were transported to a nearby hospital where one man died from his injuries, and the other was treated and listed in stable conditions.

According to Armendariz, a man identified as the suspected shooter, remained at the scene. He was detained and underwent additional questioning for his involvement by officers. During the investigation, it was determined the shooter is employed with the U.S. Department of Defense Logistics Agency of San Joaquin as a federal police officer, said Armendariz.

Homicide detectives, along with crime scene investigators, processed the scene and interviewed witnesses to determine a motive for the shooting. However, as of Monday, no motive had been determined, Armendariz said.
