SACRAMENTO, CA - Sixteen Sacramento police officers lose their jobs after their union and the city fail to make a deal.
"As a result of the City not reaching an agreement with the Sacramento Police Officers Association (SPOA), 47 police officer positions will be lost due to budget reductions. As a result, today was the last day of work for 16 police officers who were laid off because of the budget reductions, Assistant City Manager, John Dangberg said.
"The City remains optimistic that a solution can still be found working with SPOA. The City is willing to meet with the police union at any time to discuss solutions to restore needed services.
