  • The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety released their list of ratings for 31 booster seats and some that receive top marks start as low as $20.

Their "Best Bets" include several Britax Parkway and several backless booster seats including the Bubblebum and a model by Evenflo.

Their "Not Recommended" models include the Safety 1st All-in-one and the Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite.

Under California law children under age 8 (or until they reach 4'9)  must be restrained in a car or booster seat.  Booster seats are generally used after age 4 to  help the seat belt sit properly on a child's lap versus stomach and over the shoulder instead of on the neck.

The California Highway Patrol can inspect and install booster and car seats for free. Call for an appointment.
