She struggled with her studies like other high school students. She attended class like other high school students. She partied like other high school students.

But when her time at Lindhurst High School in Olivehurst came to an end in 2001, this student didn't receive a diploma.

She made arrests.

She was a 27-year-old agent for the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) who posed as a 16-year-old Lindhurst student for an undercover operation. The agent said she arrested eight students and purchased drugs on 21 separate occasions during the investigation.

ABC agents have been conducting undercover investigations at high schools in Northern California for more than a decade. The operations may remind some of the late 1980s television show "21 Jump Street," which was remade into a big-budget film in 2012.

An ABC agent spent four months undercover at Nevada Union High School last spring.

"I didn't have a clue," Nevada Union Principal Mike Blake said.

Six students were arrested as a result of the operation, which was prompted by parents' concerns about drugs at the school. Blake said he believes the school has seen a change in the wake of the arrests.

The agent was performed the undercover operation at Lindhurst High School said her goal was to find drug dealers. Parents believed the school had a problem with drugs.

News10 won't reveal her identity because she actively works undercover in other operations with ABC.

"I was older than some of the teachers that were teaching at the school," she said. "I had to study, all while trying to be mindful of the fact if I was really into drugs I wouldn't be doing well at those things."

The agent says she attended off-campus parties to gain the trust of drug dealers. Her efforts to blend in as a student seemed to be effective.

"I did get asked to prom," she said. "The person who asked me was (one of the) quote unquote the good kids so I did not go with him."
