SLIDESHOW: Sierra Snow
SACRAMENTO, CA - Above 7,000 feet, the Sierra received at least six inches of snow with Sunday's storm, says News10 weather reporter Mellisa Paul.
The system has headed east, leaving Northern California clear and cool Monday. Valley daytime highs will be well below normal in the low 60s with downright chilly overnight lows, upper 30s to low 40s. The Sierra will have low temperatures in the teens Monday night.
Sunday's system brought impressive rain amounts to the valley with about half an inch in most locations.
Boreal Mountain Resort in the mountains reported almost a foot of new snow by midnight Sunday. Snow showers were tapering off and partly cloudy skies are expected by afternoon Monday.
Another weather system will bring a chance of showers late Tuesday into Wednesday. Highs will be in the mid 60s. More mountain snow is possible with this passing system.
Warmer and drier weather is ahead for the weekend.
