MONTREAT, N.C. (AP) - Aging evangelist Rev. Billy Graham has told Mitt Romney he will do all he can to help the GOP nominee win the presidency.

Romney visited Graham at the preacher's mountaintop home in western North Carolina today. Romney told Graham that prayer is the most helpful thing he needs.

A Romney adviser says the former governor and Graham's son -- Rev. Franklin Graham -- have been discussing how the younger Graham will encourage churches to encourage voter turnout.

The younger Graham, who attended today's meeting, said in February that most Christians "would not recognize Mormonism," Romney's faith. He also would not say in an interview that Romney was a Christian. He apologized for refusing, in the same interview, to say whether he believed President Barack Obama is a Christian.

Romney later spoke at a rally in Asheville. The president narrowly carried North Carolina in 2008
