SACRAMENTO, CA - The California Department of Public Health warns consumers to not eat Red Vines® Black Licorice Twists candy, dated "'Best Before' 020413," because tests conducted by CDPH showed lead levels exceeded standards set by the state.

The candy is sold in one-pound packages. The words 'Black Licorice Twists' appear toward the bottom of the package.

Public health officials say to discard the candy.

The maker of the licorice, American Licorice Co. in Union City, has voluntarily recalled the candy.
