SOUTH SACRAMENTO, CA - A high speed police pursuit culminated in south Sacramento Monday morning with California Highway Patrol officers using a stun gun on the driver to subdue him.
The chase began around 10:20 a.m. when an officer attempted to pull over a black SUV on Prairie City Road in the Folsom area for speeding, according to Folsom Police Department spokesman Officer Jason Browning. Police say the driver reached speeds upward of 100 mph in Folsom before he got back on the highway and CHP units followed him southbound on Power Inn Road and then onto Palmer House Drive and Luocreta Drive, a residential area in south Sacramento.
There, CHP patrol units intentionally made contact with the SUV to force the driver to stop.
Officers deployed a Taser gun on the driver who was non-compliant, said Sgt. Trevor Shields.
The driver, later identified as Anthony Flores, 24, and a parolee, was taken to an area hospital to be medically evaluated. He was then booked into the Sacramento County jail. No one else was injured.
Shields said the driver was weaving in and out of traffic and it was fortunate no one was hit.
