Tanishq and Tiara Abraham
SACRAMENTO, CA - A Sacramento preschooler has become one of the youngest members of the high IQ Society of Mensa.
Four-year-old Tiara Abraham followed in the footsteps of her 7-year-old brother Tanishq, who joined Mensa at around the same age.
Tiara's parents said they had her tested after she showed signs of a high IQ. Tiara took the WPPSI-III standardized IQ test and scored in the 99th percentile.
Bijou and Dr. Taji Abraham said having two gifted children is a challenge, keeping up with the educational demands, as well as the expenses for educational enrichment and extracurricular activities.
Both children attend school as well as a mix of independent study and home schooling. The Abrahams said they are often misunderstood as being pushy parents, but consider themselves parents of "pushy kids."
The Abrahams feel it is their responsibility as parents to provide every opportunity they can for their children to reach their full potential. "Wherever they feel their interest is, that's where we want them to go," said Bijou Abraham. "We don't want to hold them back."
