SACRAMENTO, CA - Sacramento police were looking for the gunman who shot and killed a man early Saturday outside a convenience store.

The shooting happened at 1:40 a.m. Saturday near Northgate Boulevard and West El Camino Avenue next to a 7-11 store, Sacramento Police Sgt. Norm Leong said.

Leong said two men drove to the store parking lot and were sitting in their car, when a third man approached their car, had a short conversation with the driver, then shot him.

39 year old Gregory David Lewis was taken to the hospital and later died, Leong said.

Witnesses described the gunman as in his 30s or 40s, between 5 feet, 11 inches and 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing 180 to 210 pounds. The suspect was also wearing all dark clothing, Leong said.

Leong said the motive for the shooting was under investigation.

Anyone with information about the shooting was encouraged to call Crime Alert at 916-443-HELP.
