Sac TweetUp at Cafeteria L
SACRAMENTO -- Those of us who are active in the Sacramento twitter scene are familiar with the monthly Sacramento TweetUps put on by Sierra Friend and Alejandro Reyes. If you don't live in the city, don't worry. TweetUps are popping up all over.
For Tweeters living in Roseville, you can gather with fellow twitter fiends at Ruth's Chris Steak House in the Galleria. The group is meeting on May 11 between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The free event is co-hosted by Tweetflow and PR professional Ray Young.
"The TweetUp was promoted via social media through LinkedIn, e-mail, Facebook and, of course, Twitter," said Ray Young, co-sponsor of the event.
Young says they estimate a hundred people will attend the Roseville event and as of Tuesday afternoon, they had close to 80 registered.
"This is our second Roseville Tweetup," said Young. "Our first one had 64 people and we expect more at this one."
TweetUp attendees range from recent college grads to business professionals in their 50s and 60s. Regardless of their age, the one thing they all have in common is Twitter.
"Social media is emerging in a big way. My clients have been asking for it in their businesses and twitter is one way for them to reach their target audience," Young said.
Both Tweetflow and Young are based in the South Placer area. Their goal is to make social media more accessible for businesses in the area and teach people about Twitter.
"This event allows people a way to connect. It's a great way to network and a great way to connect with clients," said Young.
There will be a Placer TweetUp every month. The next one is planned for June 8 at Tres Agaves.
However, Sacramento and Placer aren't the only communities doing TweetUps. Folsom will be having its first TweetUp on June 1. Organized by Jim Pelley, it will be at the Back Wine Bar and begins at 6 p.m.
