CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA - The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department bomb squad did not locate a bomb inside a bag left behind during a bank robbery in Citrus Heights, according to authorities.
According to Lt. Jeff McKanin with the Citrus Heights Police Department, a woman walked into Union Bank at 5748 Sunrise Boulevard Monday afternoon with a bag and a note attached that demanded money and said there was an explosive device in the bag.
McKanin said the woman placed the bag on the counter, waited a few moments, and then ran from the bank without any money.
The bank, located on Kingswood Drive just south of Birdcage Plaza and the Sunrise Mall was evacuated.
McKanin said officers with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department bomb squad sent in a robotic mechanism to examine the bag and determined that there was no explosive device inside.
