Brett Pedroia spoke with News10 following brother Dustin's MVP selection last November.
WOODLAND, CA - The brother of Major League Baseball MVP and Woodland native Dustin Pedroia was arrested earlier this month and faces four counts of child molestation, according to Woodland police.
Brett Pedroia, 29, was arrested Jan. 9 on a probable cause warrant for two counts of oral copulation and two counts of lewd acts with a child under 14 years old in connection with events that allegedly occurred approximately four years ago, according to Woodland police Lt. Dan Letamendi.
Letamendi said the alleged victim recently told one of his parents, who reported the incident to police in another county. Those law enforcement officers contacted Woodland Police, who arrested Pedroia following their own investigation.
Pedroia was released on $50,000 bail and was scheduled to appear in court for a hearing Feb. 4.
Letamendi said Sunday that no further information regarding the investigation would be released so as not to compromise the investigation or due process.
Pedroia's brother Dustin graduated from Woodland High School in 2001. After winning American League Rookie of the Year honors with the Boston Red Sox in 2007, Pedroia followed with a stellar 2008. Finishing with a .326 average, 17 home runs and 83 RBIs, Pedroia became the first AL second baseman since 1959 to be named the league's Most Valuable Player.
Pedroia signed a six-year, $40 million contract extension with Boston in December.
