FOLSOM - In Historic Folsom, snow fell during a street fair on Sutter Street Saturday afternoon, but it didn't last long enough to stick on the ground.
"Right here, in the middle of the street, we saw it coming down," Vendor Jan Pitcher said. "It was a snowflake every 10 to 15 feet. It lasted 30 seconds to five minutes; it was very short."
Freezing temperatures brought flurries to lower elevations, while the Sierra Foothills got 3 feet of snow as the Sierra storm moved through the area Friday and Saturday.
Fair goers were bundled up because of the exceptionally cold temperatures. As shoppers browsed shops and families skated on the ice rink, it got chilly enough for snow to fall.
"All the kids were screaming trying to catch it," Security Officer Debby Villanueva said. "Everything over on the ice rink. It was pretty neat."
Snow also fell in the areas of Lincoln, Loomis and El Dorado Hills.
