Sacramento Republic F.C. signs first player in club history

SACRAMENTO - The Sacramento Republic F.C. announced their first ever player signing Monday.

Midfielder Rodrigo Lopez is the first of two players to be signed by the Republic this week, according to the team website.

Born in Guadalajara, Mexico in 1988, Lopez has had professional stints with the Portland Timbers (MLS), Chivas USA (MLS), Orlando City (USL PRO) and Ventura County Fusion (PDL).

Lopez featured eight times for Chivas during his three-years with the club in the 2005 through 2007 MLS seasons.

The Republic will introduce Lopez to the media and fans at a 1-year-anniversary party at Hot Italian restaurant in Sacramento at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
