Police sketch issued in foothills abduction attempt

VALLEY SPRINGS, CA - There is now a police sketch of a man who tried to abduct a young teen girl in Valley Springs on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

The incident was at at the Veterans Memorial Park playgrounds, 189 Pine Street behind Valley Springs Elementary School, said Calaveras County sheriff's Sgt. Chris Hewitt. The man's target was a 14-year-old girl.

The would-be kidnapper was described as white, approximately 6 feet tall with a husky build. His hair was worn dark and longer in the front, fading to a lighter color and shorter in the back.

At the time of the attempted abduction, the man wore a faded gray t-shirt and blue jeans. He drove an older model, four-door car, burgundy in color with Oregon license plates. The car was very scratched.

The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office is still seeking help from the public in identifying the suspect.
