SACRAMENTO - A pedestrian was struck and killed on the eastbound side of Interstate 80 in the Natomas area Thursday morning.
The California Highway Patrol was contacted around 5:05 a.m. by a caller reporting a man had been hit near the Truxel Road ramp.
The man crossing the freeway was wearing dark clothing and the driver of a 2003 Kia sedan traveling about 65 mph in the number three lane did not see the pedestrian, the CHP reports.
The downed pedestrian was also hit by a 1998 Dodge Ram 1550 and a 2003 Chevy Z71. His name was not being released until his family was notified.
No information was provided on why the pedestrian was on the freeway.
It wasn't known yet if alcohol or drugs played a role.
I-80 was fully reopened about 7:30 a.m.
