New Sacramento Kings point guard Greivis Vasquez arrives in Sacramento.
SACRAMENTO, CA - Greivis Vasquez arrived in Sacramento for the first time as a member of the Kings late Thursday evening and was very excited about the challenge ahead with his new team.
"I'm excited, I'm happy to be here - I want to be here, Vasquez said moments after arriving in downtown Sacramento. "I was praying that I wasn't going to get traded anywhere else but here."
The 26-year-old Vasquez, who was the runner-up to Indiana's Paul George for the NBA's Most Improved Player Award, averaged career highs of 13.9 points and nine assists per game with the New Orleans Hornets.
Now named the Pelicans, New Orleans traded Vasquez to Sacramento as part of a three-team deal in exchange for Tyreke Evans.
Vasquez met with Kings General Manager Pete D'Alessandro after arriving at a downtown Sacramento hotel. He will meet with team officials on Saturday.
