El DORADO COUNTY, CA - A 17-year-old boy has been accused of attempted murder for allegedly stabbing a man who lived in a tent on the outskirts of the town of El Dorado.
Lt. Tim Becker with the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office said dispatchers received a call just after 10 p.m. Sunday from the wife of the victim reporting her husband, Craig Templin, 51, had been stabbed.
The woman, Deborah Lewis, 47, told deputies that she and her husband had been asleep in their tent when they were surprised by the suspect who had a knife and began attacking them.
During the struggle, Templin and the teen received knife wounds, Becker said. Templin was able to gain control of the situation and detain the youth until deputies arrived. All of the parties were taken to an area hospital for medical attention and released.
The couple said they didn't know their attacker and had never seen him before.
The teen was booked into county juvenile hall on suspicion of attempted murder. Becker said the suspect is from Shingle Springs.
