STOCKTON, CA - Five children were placed into child protective services after four family members suspected of child abuse were arrested Friday.
Stockton police Officer Joe Silva said the children suffered psychological abuse and were malnourished.
The children's aunt and uncle, Edith Yolanda Orozco, 50, and George Orozco Sr., 59, and their cousins, George Orozco Jr., 21, and Sara Orozco, 18, were arrested in connection to the child abuse, Silva said.
On Thursday, officers were called to an elementary school to reports of child abuse. The victims range from ages 6 years old to 14 years old.
The suspects were booked into San Joaquin County Jail Friday morning. According to booking records:
George Orozco Jr., Sara Orozco and Edith Yolanda Orozco were booked into jail for infliction of great bodily injury, child abuse and endangerment and physical injury to a child. Their bail was set at $250,000.
George Orozco Sr. was booked into jail for child abuse and endangerment. His bail was set at $150,000.
All four were scheduled to be in court on Sept. 25 at 1:30 p.m.
