ROCKLIN, CA - Rocklin police say a local high school teacher was arrested Monday on suspicion of having a sexual relationship with an underage student at his school.

Lt. Lon Milka says investigators were contacted by the mother of the 17-year-old girl on Saturday night that her daughter and teacher Matthew Yamamoto might be engaged in an inappropriate relationship.

Yamamoto, 33, teaches at Whitney High School where the alleged victim is a student.

Police investigated and arrested Yamamoto at his Rocklin home. He was booked into Placer County Jail for child molestation and arranging to meet with a minor for the purposes of committing a lewd act, according to the police report.

Bail was set at $100,000.

Detectives continue to investigate Yamamoto and urged any other potential victims to contact the Rocklin Police Department.
