MODESTO, CA - Gregori High School in Modesto was placed on lockdown Monday morning due to a shooting in the area of Kiernan Ave. and American Ave. around 6:45 a.m.
Sgt. Kathleen Blom of the Modesto Police Dept. said the shooting occurred close enough to the school that it warranted a lockdown, but the lockdown was lifted shortly thereafter.
Blom said one man was shot three to four times in the incident, but was conscious and speaking. The gunshot victim provided police with conflicting information, originally stating the wounds were self inflicted, then changing his story, Blom said.
The shooting suspect, described as an Hispanic man in his early to mid 30s, remains at large.
