FOLSOM, CA - There was a riot involving 70 inmates at Folsom State Prison Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The uprising broke out about 11:47 a.m. in the main yard, said prison spokesman Lt. Paul Baker.

Correctional officers deployed pepper spray, non-lethal riot control rounds and three warning rounds from a mini 14 to subdue the fighting.

Baker said no officers or inmates were seriously injured. He said the prison will remain on modified program until the investigation into what happened was completed.

Folsom State Prison is a medium security facility for more than 3,100 inmates.
