STOCKTON, CA - A Stockton man, suspected of possessing child porn, was arrested Thursday afternoon.
Wilfred Luce, 48, was arrested for receiving and possessing child porn, Stockton police spokeswoman Roseann Clark said.
Internet detectives from San Jose said they tracked large amounts of child pornography files being shared online coming from Luce's IP address.
Stockton Police detectives and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force conducted a month-long investigation before searching Luce's West Fremont Street apartment Wednesday.
"Just in his external media he had was a number of files of child pornography," U.S. Marshal and Sacramento County Sheriff detective James Williams said. "There was over 200 GB approximately."
Clark aided in the search warrant and said there were several boxes containing material that needs to be reviewed and processed.
"He knew why we were there," said Clark. "He was very humble. Put down his cigarrette, sat up, and let us handcuff and arrest him."
According to Williams, investigators will work with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to identify children in Luce's files. As for tracking other people who shared child porn files with Luce, Williams said the task is difficult and time consuming.
"They're offering out just files just like file sharing works for music," Williams said. "They're allowing it to be accessed and downloaded from their computer. So it's one computer at a time."
Luce is being held at Sacramento County Jail, and then Friday will appear in federal court.
