Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport
SACRAMENTO, CA -- At least two flights bound for Dallas-Ft. Worth Friday morning won't get off the ground. The 6:00 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. flights on American Airlines out of Sacramento International Airport have been cancelled.
As of 5:08 a.m., the 12:20 p.m. flight is still scheduled for an on- time departure.
A 6:00 a.m. flight to Oklahoma City has also been cancelled.
A winter storm is coating the Super Bowl host city with snow and ice. Multiple flights into the Dallas-Ft. Worth airport have been cancelled all week long.
Despite reports of multiple, temporary closures at the airport this week, David Magana, public affairs manager at DFW International Airport, said, "DFW was closed for two and a half hours on Tuesday morning of this week, from 5:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., to be precise. The airport has been open for business otherwise."
Temperatures around Cowboys Stadium in Arlington have dipped below zero when wind chill is taken into account.
David Schechter, a senior reporter at ABC affiliate WFAA-TV in Dallas, said, "All we need is a couple of warm hours and some sunlight and this will all be a memory."
For the first time in four days, the National Weather Service forecast for game day calls for highs in the mid-50s.
