CARMICHAEL, CA - A vacant home was destroyed in a garage fire early Saturday morning.
Sacramento Metro firefighters responded to the home on the 4900 block of Marietta Way after neighbors called 911 around 4:13 a.m.
Bryan Thomson with the Sac Metro Fire Department said the house was completely engulfed in flames when crews arrived at the scene. It took firefighters 45 minutes to get the fire under control.
The fire started in the garage and spread to the rest of the home, which was boarded up. Thompson said transients had broken in and were living inside when the fire broke out.
No one was injured in the fire.
The fire caused $150,000 to $200,000 worth of damages to the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
